About This Library
Nestled on the east bank of the University of Minnesota, Arvonne Fraser Library (formerly Southeast Library) weaves a tapestry of history and innovation. Designed by master architect Ralph Rapson, it started as a credit union for university and state employees before opening as a library in 1967. Building on the legacies of the East Side Branch (1891-1904) and Pillsbury Library (1904-1967), it serves the vibrant university community. Unique self-service holds pickup (7 a.m.–8 p.m.), free events, and a Friends group highlight its modern appeal within Rapson's iconic architecture.
