Washburn Library

Nestled near the scenic Minnehaha Creek in southwest Minneapolis, Washburn Library pays tribute to flour magnate and U.S. Senator William D. Washburn (1831-1912). Library services began in 1939 with a pioneering bookmobile route, culminating in the opening of its current welcoming location in 1970. As a vibrant community hub at 5244 Lyndale Avenue South, it hosts free events and supports a dedicated Friends group. With convenient hours from Monday to Saturday, it invites locals to immerse in knowledge, history, and natural beauty.
